Catholic Super’s Balanced option has been ranked as the equal top performer for calendar 2016 in the SuperRatings survey of the top 50 funds in the country.
The 2016 return was a very strong 10.1% (after tax and fees), which is well above our long term expectations. This means that our Balanced option earned $5,050 on a $50,000 investment, compared with the industry average growth of only $3,650.
This return was delivered in a year in which investment markets confronted a number of surprises and challenges. “We don’t focus our thinking and strategies on periods as short as a single year, of course. Nonetheless, we are very pleased with this outcome,” said Garrie Lette, Catholic Super’s Chief Investment Officer.
This result strengthens our strong investment achievements over long periods of time which is where we focus our attention. That strong long-term performance is a testament to the strategies established and adhered to over a number of years, the hallmarks of which are to:
- Think about members’ needs
- Think long term, and
- Think and act responsibly.
We will continue to adhere to that approach, confident that it will deliver favourable outcomes for all members.
