- Equip Super has appointed John Comito as an Employer Director from 1 January 2026, following the retirement of long-serving Board member Mark Cerche at the end of December.
- Comito brings more than 40 years of financial services expertise, including detailed involvement in superannuation mergers, and also joins the Stakeholder Engagement & Innovation Committee and Audit & Finance Committee, chaired by Julian Widdup from 1 January.
Melbourne, 19 December 2025: Leading super fund Equip Super today announced a transition on its Board, with Employer Director Mark Cerche set to retire at the end of December after eight years of service. His replacement on the Board will be John Comito.
On behalf of the Board, Equip Super thanked Mr Cerche for his longstanding contribution and the leadership and guidance he has offered the Fund during his tenure.
From 1 January, Julian Widdup will take over as Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee (AFC).
Following a thorough recruitment process, the Board has appointed John Comito as an Employer Director, effective 1 January.
Mr Comito was nominated by the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and currently sits on the board of the Catholic Development Fund. He brings more than 40 years of experience in financial services, with senior responsibilities spanning CFO, risk, Corporate Finance, mergers and acquisitions, asset servicing, and institutional relationships.
Mr Comito has deep expertise in the provision of superannuation services and has overseen a number of mergers as Head of NAB’s custody division including between Catholic Super and Equip Super.
He will join Catholic Super’s Stakeholder Engagement & Innovation Committee (SEIC) and Audit & Finance Committee (AFC).

John Comito said he was honoured to be appointed as an Employer Director of Catholic Super. “The Fund has a strong history of delivering for members and employers, and I look forward to contributing to the Board’s work, particularly through the Audit & Finance Committee and Stakeholder Engagement & Innovation Committee, at a time of continued growth and evolution for the Fund,” he said.
Mr Comito will commence in the role on 1 January 2026.
