Superannuation can be complex and confusing for the average person, so the value of no-cost, one-on-one help that comes to you can’t be overstated.

We are serious about improving education and information about superannuation and personal finances. So we have set up a dedicated team of Senior Superannuation Specialists that ‘embed’ themselves into workplaces for the day, where staff have access to a 30 minute individual appointment about financial questions relevant to them.

Senior Superannuation Specialist Melissa Cardwell is one of our dedicated Super Specialists you can see at your workplace.

“We will go out to a workplace for the day and offer Catholic Super members and non-members individual sessions regarding their circumstances. It depends on the person in front of me and their age as to what we talk about,” she says.

For example, some people might need a simple explanation of what super is and how it works; some want to know how they are tracking for retirement; and others might be newly single and have to start managing their finances from scratch.

“In a lot of workplaces we go to it’s mainly women that work there, and you want to be able to help them as much as you can. I find 99 per cent of people don’t realise that they have insurance in their super account. They pay for it, and they might say oh, I didn’t know I had that there,” she says.

Melissa says the service is so effective because it doesn’t require any effort.

“They just turn up to work. We come to you. The employees love it and they’re so grateful when their employer organises it for them,” she says.
